I warned you

School has been keeping me very busy. Which unfortunatley has taken me away from the blog. However, I have time off and on and I will try to keep things updated. Right now I am still working on all my projects and thinking a lot about the election. I am supporting the current president and many of the republicans running in the state of Washington. However, I cannot wait for this election to be over. I'm so tired of everything. I will say the following, VOTE! I don't care who, when, why or how, but VOTE! We are 15 days away from the General election here in the United States. I'm serious I don't care anymore, I just want it to be over with. I want to quit arguing with everyone and hopefully I won't gloat when my man wins. But please vote...

Ralph Nader off ballot

I'm not a big fan of third party candidates, however, I think the that in they have the right to have their candidate on the ballot. The Oregon supreme court came down with a decision that keeps Nader off the ballot even though he has the signatures. This is one of those what do you think? Email me or post below. What do you think about third party candidates? What do you think about Nader not being allowed onto the ballot? For more information about this case you can read the Supreme court decision here. There is so much more to talk about in this case.
For example is this a decision based on party lines. Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury is a democrat. Nader is what we call a democratic spoiler, meaning if he's on the ballot people will sometimes vote for him instead of democrats. I'll let you draw you're own conclusions. You can seach here for more info from Oregon newspapers.

Summer comes to an end

As the season changes, so does my life. I'm going to be getting very busy. I plan to continue to post to this page as often as possible. I'm going to have a pretty busy schedule with my internship, school and work. I plan to post as often as I can but I can't make any promises.

It's a official

There will be, as of right now, NO NHL season this year. The commisioner of the NHL, Gary Bettman, issued a statement today that the players were locked out until the NHLPA and owners can agree. The basic problem is that the Owners want to have a salary cap and the NHLPA doesn't. For more on the story click here.

And now my analysis. The NHLPA needs to get over themselves. Back in 1994 they did almost the same thing. The owners caved in a little to much and we have the same problem we had 10 years ago. The NHLPA needs to get their heads out of the clouds, be happy with playing the worlds greatest game and take a little of a hit. I mean come on the average NHL salary is 1.8 million dollars. That's right I said average salary, and from what I have heard the NHLPA is objecting to the owners offering a salary cap to be set at 6 MILLION dollars. So if you're the best in the league you make 6 million if you aren't you make less. I also think that the NHL should introduce revenue sharing across the board. It works well in the NFL, where they have teams that play in places like New York City, New York and in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Maybe then the smaller market teams (and all Canadian teams) will have a chance to compete once again. This is one of the things that I definately have more to say on, and I will continue to watch the stories and developments on what's going on in the non-NHL year. Oh, and what are Canadians going to do on Saturday night now, no CBC? Guess CTV's and Globals numbers will gon through the roof. But I can't wait for Hockey to return.

Been a little crazy recently

I know I haven't written in a couple of days, I've been a little busy. Some things coming up today are 9/11 tribute, a note about the media and how much they show from 9/11 and also maybe some fun stuff.

The NEA is still a partisaned organization

NEA.org is asking their members to host house parties for Sen. John Kerry. That's right NEA is supporting John Kerry (yeah I know huge surprise). The NEA is partnering with Moveon.org and other organizations to support the presidential candidate. Exactly what does Moveon.org have to do with education. Oh, that's right Moveon.org wants anybody but President Bush to be in office and they're willing to help anyone who wants to do it. Oh, JOY!!!!!!!

A round of applause to Canadian Liberals

According to Yahoo.com. If the world were to decide who the next president of the United States, Sen. John Kerry would win by a landslide. That landslide includes Canada where Kerry holds a 61% to 16% for Bush. So either the poll didn't bother to call west of Ontario or Canadians are happy with the current situation in Canada. Come on Canada, president Bush has been extremely nice to you. Just because you believe the lies of the Liberals doesn't mean you should vote for them. Remember there was a huge smear campaign against the Conservatives at the end of the last campaign, by the Liberals. VOTE CONSERVATIVE, life will get better. Look at Alberta for example, and follow their lead, they are the best part of Canada.

Bush takes a lead

It's a busy day today. President Bush takes an 11 point lead over Sen. Kerry in a Time Magazine poll released today. NOTE: This poll was conducted before the presidents acceptance speech last night.
New York: For the first time since the Presidential race became a two person contest last spring, there is a clear leader, the latest TIME poll shows. If the 2004 election for President were held today, 52% of likely voters surveyed would vote for President George W. Bush, 41% would vote for Democratic nominee John Kerry, and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader, according to a new TIME poll conducted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Poll results are available on TIME.com and will appear in the upcoming issue of TIME magazine, on newsstands Monday, Sept. 6.
Go President Bush

Bill Clinton in the hospital

I'm going to be very up-front, I don't like Bill Clinton that much. I don't like the media fascination with Bill Clinton. I don't like the media obsession over every step every president, whether current or past, makes. Yes, I thought the media coverage of President Reagan's funeral services was a little over the top. However sometimes that much coverage is nessecary, I did watch all the ceremonies of Reagan as I talked about. Today Bill Clinton was admited for 4-way bypass surgery. I do wish him a speedy recovery, now that I have said that the only thing I want to hear from the media is that he has made it through ok and will make a speedy recovery, I don't want to see a special on the doctor that performed the surgery, I don't want to read how hard this was on the Clinton's, I just want to know that he's ok and then the media can shut up. That's just my opinion.

Tonights GOP

Tonights GOP conventions is brought to you by, the Christian music industry. Ok, all jokes aside, this week at the GOP there has been a large stream of christian recording artists from Third Day to Jaci Valesquez to Nicole C. Mullen singing the National anthem, to Donnie McClurkin and Michael W. Smith playing before the president tonight. Analysis of the presidents address hopefully by tomorrow night.

GOP convention

I'm sure I will get an advance copy of the Vice President's speech from the RNC convention tonight, I may have time to analyze it tonight. If I don't have time tonight, I will hope to get it done in the morning. I will also have analysis of the Presidents speech tommorrow. As a side note I am working on a lengthy story that will be put in a visible archive about Canada's safety issues regarding the Olympics in 2010. Myself and my good friend Scott are co-writing a piece on Canadian safety and where we see it going in the next 6 years as Vancouver gets ready for the olympics.

Russia: The new target of terrorism

In the past week Russia has suffered three terrorist attacks. Late last week, two planes blew up in the air. Authorities believe that it was two women who blew themselves up on-board the plane. One plane managed to hit the "highjacked" button before it blew up then today, of course it's already Wednesday in Russia, a suicide bomber blew up a subway in Moscow. According to ABC News the group claiming responsibility for today's attack, says they did it because of President Vladimir Putin non-negotiation with the rebels in pre-dominante muslim area in Chechnya.

The end of the Olympics

It's all over, the final medal counts are in and of course the United States won with 103 medals (35 of which were gold), that is just over 1/9th of the total medals handed out (903 medals are handed out in all). Russia placed second with 92, and China third with 63 (32 golds), Australia with 49, Germany rounds out the top 5 with 48. Canada placed 17th overall with 12 medals; 3 golds, 6 silvers and 3 bronze. That is Canada's worst showing since Seoul in 1988, where we only won 10 medals. Canada's best showing was in 1984 (boycott games by the Soviet block) with 44 medals. Canada's best showing in a non-boycotted games is Atlanta in 1996 where they won 22 medals.

Quote of the Day

This comes from a bumper sticker. "Even on drugs, Rush is right". For those of you who don't know the Rush here is Rush Limbough of the WABC in New York. but that's my quote of the Day.

Day 14

Ok, I forgot about yesterday but here is todays medal count. USA 90, Russia 68, China 57. Canada sits in 16th overall with a total of 9. Canada picked up two medals today, a silver in mountain biking and a bronze in kayaking. Russia goes 1-2-3 in the long jump. United States loses a birth in the gold medal basketball game, losing 89-81 to Argentina, the US will play for the bronze against Lithuania. More to come

Coalition of idiots

CBC.ca reports that Canadian member of Parliment (MP) Carolyn Parrish (Liberal-Mississauga--Erindale, ON) has called the American government a "coalition of idiots". This is the same MP who called the American government "bastards" when the US government decided to go to war in Iraq. Another liberal, another idiot, another issue the liberal Canadian government has with the conservative American government. Member Parrishs comments came regarding "Star Wars" missile defense, that the US is again exploring. And for those of you who don't know I am a dual citizen of Canada and the US but I do not like the current nor 12 years previous government of Canada.

Day 12

Night falls on Day 12...it's time for your daily medal count USA 75, Russia 53, China 52. Canada now has 7 medals and is 19th overall. Israel wins their first ever gold medal in windsurfing. Canada advances in Canoeing and Kayaking events to finals placing very high. Of course the Paul Hamm controversy continues although news has died down on it slightly. More to come...

Tuesday, August 24, 2004

Day 11

For some reason yesterday's medal count didn't ever publish. Here is your daily medal count and Canadian update. Overall medal count: USA, China, Russia. Canada gained two medals today, a gold and silver. They also lost a medal in one event (I'll explain that in a bit). Lori-Ann Muenzer won Canada's first ever indoor cycling gold medal beating a Russian in a best of three race. Alexandre Despatie pulled it out on his final dive to grab the silver medal in the 3m springboard event in Athens. In other news Canada's Perdita Felicien, a one hundred meter hurdler, fell at the start of her race. She was the favorite to win the race. More on this story and all of these at cbc.ca/olympics.
On another note, I feel sorry for United States gymnast Paul Hamm. He's facing a lot of pressure to give up his All-Around gold medal because of a judging error. Keep it Paul, they can give out two, it's been done before.

More evidence the Pres. can't do anything right

I hold in my hot hands (ok, it's on my screen and my hands aren't warm right now) a document showing how the president can't do anything right. My Way news (curtosey of Drudge Report) tells the whole story. It deals with the "attack" ads that a group called "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth". Sen. John Kerry, has asked the President to take the commercial, which disagrees with Sen. Kerry's positions, to take it off the air. UMMMMM....I believe there is a right to the Freedom of speech in this country. For those of you who don't know it's the First Amendmant of the Constitution of the United States. I'm not saying anything else on this at least. On the way, your Olympic update.

Nothing tommorow

I will probably not post until Sunday or Monday as I'm out of town tommorow and pretty busy all weekend. I'm sorry to those of you who are waiting for those Olympic updates, click the links on the left and you'll get all the help you need.

Day 7

As earlier reported by me, the Canadians in pairs rowing were disqualified. Today the decsion was upheld. For more on that story CBC.ca/olympics. Now for you're daily Olympic medal count. Tonight it's just the overall medal count and things have moved around a little: USA, China, Russia. Australia falls to 4th and Canada wins a silver to make their total count of two and placing them in a 9-way tie for 17th.
And what games wouldn't be complete without a little judge contoversy. Now, I'll admit I'm a little biased, I think the Canadian should have won the fight. Today, a Canadian boxer was eliminated by a South Korean boxer. I watched the fight and in my opinion, the fight was very tilted, the Canadain landed more punches than were scored and the South Korean scored for no reason at all. In fact it seemed like if the Canadian scored the South Korean scored no matter what he through back. I'm sorry, I'm sick of judges who favor competitors. There is only one solution, complete impartiality. No judge can be from a country that is competing in the games, whether they are judging the actual event or handing out judging assignments. But that's one persons opinion.

Night Falls on Day 6

Here is your Day 6 medal count (HURRAY)! Right like you care, but still you came to the pager here it is. The order based on gold medals is: USA, China, Russia. Believe it or not, it actually matches the overall standings as well. That is day 6 for ya!

continued

The Washington Post is reporting that Al-Jazeera is getting support from certain muslim groups in Canada, who say the CRTC (Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commision) shouldn't censor the channel. As my mom said, "They didn't come here for freedom, they came here to take over." Again, I implore all Canadians to write the CRTC and request that Al-Jazeera be taken off the air in Canada, and that Fox News be added. Thank you.

Developing story

Developing story out of Canada: Canadian-muslims are complaining because the CRTC is censoring Al-Jezeera in Canada. Please see Fox News and Canada, a story I wrote earlier about the fact that Al-Jezeera is being allowed in Canada...more on the way...

So I was hoping to do analysis of this peice but I have resigned myself to just posting the link and story. National Post is where the story is and I'll have it posted here as well.

'A lot' of Canadians in al-Qaeda track between words
Toronto, Vancouver men at terror training camp, Khadr says

Stewart Bell
National Post

Tuesday, August 17, 2004

"A lot" of Canadians trained at al-Qaeda camps in Afghanistan and some still live freely in Canada, Abdurahman Khadr testified at a court hearing at which he revealed chilling new details about Canadian terror suspects and his father's ties to Osama bin Laden's training camps.

Mr. Khadr, a 21-year-old Toronto man who underwent weapons and explosives training at four camps in Afghanistan, said in testimony made public yesterday that he had given CIA agents the names of several Canadians who trained at camps such as Khalden.

"I know a lot of people that are living in the West and are living in Canada, and that live their everyday life now and are not under arrest or anything, that have been to Khalden," Mr. Khadr testified at a July 13 hearing in Montreal.

"I had a lot of friends that were Canadians that came to Afghanistan and went to training," Mr. Khadr said. "Some of them are dead now and some of them are back in Canada and some of them are under arrest."

His contention that graduates of the Afghan camps are living normal lives in Canada comes as U.S. officials are concerned that al-Qaeda might try to use Canada as a staging ground for a terrorist strike some time before November's presidential election.

Mr. Khadr testified the training camps did not instruct recruits to "go after America," but provided basic weapons training for Muslims, whom he said are obliged to prepare to defend Islamic countries from attack. But it is now widely known the camps were run by al-Qaeda and taught recruits how to attack Western targets.

Among the Canadians who attended the camps were Amer and Ahmad El-Maati of Toronto, a Vancouver man he knew as Amer, who was killed in a 1998 U.S. missile strike, and a Canadian named Idriss, who was arrested for plotting to blow up an embassy in Azerbaijan, Mr. Khadr testified.

He also testified he met Mahmoud Jaballah in Peshawar, Pakistan. Mr. Jaballah is an Egyptian being detained by Canadian authorities following his arrest in Toronto. The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) alleges he is a member of the Al Jihad terrorist group. His lawyers argued at a hearing yesterday that he should not be deported to Egypt because he would face torture there. (See story Page A6)

Mr. Khadr's testimony, which fills 176 pages, lends support to accusations by CSIS that Mr. Khadr's father, the late Ahmed Khadr, was a central figure in Canada's Sunni Islamic extremist network until he was killed last year during a shootout with Pakistani security forces.

Known in Afghanistan as al-Kanadi, or the Canadian, his father's house is depicted in the testimony as a hub of Canadian jihad activity. Canadians travelling to Afghanistan to train with al-Qaeda would often pass through the Khadr family home, Abdurahman said.

"We regularly got information if there was any Canadians. In a lot of cases, these Canadians would stay at our house before they would go to Afghanistan. Otherwise, if they didn't stay in our house, then we would know that there is a Canadian coming, you know, to go to Afghanistan and he is going to Khalden or he is going to the [Khalden camp] guesthouse."

The Khadr family raised as much as $70,000 during annual fundraising visits to Canada, he added. The money, raised mostly at mosques, was for Health and Education Projects International, a non-profit organization run by Ahmed Khadr.

Abdurahman said he did not know where the money went but said he had no evidence it financed terrorist training camps. He did admit, however, that his father was close friends with three men who ran al-Qaeda's training camps, including Abu Zubaydah.

He also admitted the Khadr charity had sent supplies to Khalden camp. "I was in Khalden and there was a container of clothes and medicine that came from Canada. And later I saw medicine from the same container and clothes in the camp, in the training camp."

The testimony is the latest chapter in the saga of the Khadrs, a Canadian Muslim family that lived in Pakistan and Afghanistan from 1985 to 2001. Although the family long denied any ties to terrorism, the Khadrs now admit their close association to bin Laden and his top aides.

Ahmed Khadr first went to the region as a representative of the Ottawa-based humanitarian group Human Concern International. He became a friend of bin Laden and together they helped finance the fight against the Soviets in the 1980s.

He was later arrested for his alleged role in the 1995 bombing of the Egyptian embassy in Islamabad, but he was released after several months. Abdurahman testified the release came after Jean Chretien, then the prime minister, "used his influence on Benazir Bhutto," then the prime minister of Pakistan.

Later, the Khadrs moved into bin Laden's compound in Jalalabad and became what Abdurahman described as an al-Qaeda family.

In November, 2001, Abdurahman was captured by Northern Alliance rebels and handed over to British and American intelligence agents. He claims he co-operated with the CIA and was sent to Guantanamo Bay and Bosnia to spy for the Americans.

His brother Omar was arrested in July, 2002, and remains at Guantanamo. Abdurahman said in his testimony that Omar, accused of killing a U.S. soldier, had confessed at first but then stopped talking.

"My brother Omar co-operated with the FBI and he was ready; they were being ready to release him and then he was in his cellblock and people saw that he was being ready to be released so they told him: 'Oh, you told everything. You are going to Hell. So if you don't change, you are going to Hell.' So the next time he went to interrogation, he denied everything, so they took away everything from him and he is still there now."

His father was killed and his youngest brother, Karim, was injured in a shootout in Pakistan in October, 2003. His mother, Maha Elsamnah, returned to Canada with Karim in the spring, raising an outcry among Canadians who wanted the family barred from the country.

Abdurahman made his comments while testifying as a defence witness in the case of Adil Charkaoui, a Moroccan arrested in Montreal after CSIS alleged he was an al-Qaeda sleeper agent. Mr. Khadr testified that while he knew many of the Canadians who trained in Afghanistan, he had never seen Mr. Charkaoui.

Government lawyers tried to discredit him, noting he had changed his story several times. They also emphasized he had not recognize the names of such other Canadian terrorist suspects as Mohammed Marzouk, Abousofian Abdelrazik, Samir Ezzine and Abdallah Ouzghar.

He admits to lying in the past but said that two days after giving a false account of his activities at a news conference in Toronto, he told his lawyer, Rocco Galati, he was actually a CIA informer. He insists he is telling the truth now and just wants to live a normal life in Canada.

He is also suing the Canadian government for a passport, which the government refuses to issue because of his family's al-Qaeda links.

Night falls on day 5

Time for you daily medal count, based on the gold medal system here is the order: China, USA, Japan. Daily medal count based on total: USA, China, Australia. Canada still with only one bronze sits in 38th (again, based on gold medal system).

In other Olympic news the Canadians have been "disqualified" from the pairs rowing competition. CBC.com/olympics reports that the Canadians went out of their lane in the qualifying round, supposed, causing the South African team to mis-row causing a stall just before the finish line. The Canadians admit they went out of their lane however, they contest they did not cause the South Africans to mis-row. For more info on the story click the above link. I, of course, will keep you aprised of all details in this case.

Ian Thorpe (AUS), Michael Phelps and Paul Hamm (both USA) all medaled today. All details are also availible at the above link. More to come including that story I promised from the National Post last night.

Canadian Story

I am working on a story out of the National Post in Canada, I will get it up as soon as possible but it may take till tommorow.

Day 4

Day 4 is done! The medal counts have changed. Using the same process I have explained already (based on total number of gold medals won), the top three are: China, USA, Australia. If we were counting total medals the order is: USA, China, Australia. Canada has dropped a few spots in the standings with still only having one bronze medal. They sit in a 6-way tie for 36th (yes, that means that 41 countries have won medals already). CBC results has the complete list of the medal count.

Phelps v. Thorpe

High expectations are the name of the game at the Olympics. But do we often set the bar too high? Take Michael Phelps, the 19-year old swimmer from Baltimore and Ian Thorpe the 21-year old from Sydney, Australia. Two very, very talented swimmers. Michael Phelps is simply known as Michael Phelps. Ian Thorpe is known as the Thorpedo. You tell me, who do you think is going to win a race? Ok, granted there really isn't much of a nickname you can come up with when using Michael Phelps, still who would you rather cheer for. Phelps and Thorpe didn't race each other the first day and they both managed to win their respective races. The first time they met, they and their teams were both defeated by the South Africans. The next time they met it was Thorpe on top. Today was race day again. It was the 4X200m freestyle relay, and after losing the last time around, the Aussies and the Americans weren't about to be beat again. Today it was a battle for 3rd, as it was a near garuntee that either the Aussies or Americans that would take the gold and likely silver. True to form the Americans and Aussies made it a battle, the Americans sending Phelps out first to get a lead over the Aussies. The aussies sent a different strategy, they waited to send the power till the end. Phelps kept a sizable lead on the Aussies in the first leg. As the race wore on it really did become a battle for thrid. The Americans sent all they could at the Aussies and when the Thorpedo hit the water, the race was on. The winners, the Americans. However, Phelps dream of beating the Mark Spitz record.

I suppose now is a good time to pause and talk a bit about Mark Spitz. An American swimmer, who competed in the 1972 Olympics in Munich, set 7 world records in 7 different races winning 7 gold medals. Everyone said the Phelps was the new Spitz.

Now it's clear, Michael Phelps will not win 7 gold medals. The most he can take is 5. Of course he and Thorpe will come out with a medal in every race they are in but it's a matter of color. As Americans cheer on Phelps and get mad at Thorpe. I'm torn...

Let's talk about the Canadians. They can't seem to win a race, they can't even seem to qualify for the final (with a couple of exceptions). I live in the United States, however, I still don't know who to cheer for. Maybe you can help me out. Should I cheer for my failing native Canada? Or should I cheer for my current residence country, the winning America? Or maybe I should cheer for the Aussies, who for the most part I just like the color? Before giving your opinion, I'm only talking about in the pool. And also if you don't care at all about the olympics I want to know that as well and why you don't care. More to come...maybe

As night falls on Day 3

Olympics, day 3 is done. Day 4 starts bright and early tommorow morning USA/Canada time. Canada while they haven't been doing to poorly also has not been doing that great. The Canadians have one medal so far. It came today in syncronized diving. From the 10m platform Emilie Heymans and Blythe Hartley performed extremely well and captured the bronze, although they did drop a spot at the end. In the medal count Canada sits in a 7-way tie for 31st. The United States sits 4th, based on a majority of gold medals. What do I mean by that? By a strict medal count, the United States is tied for 2nd along with Australia, they both have 13 medals. But Japan has 2 more golds than the US, therefore, Japan is placed higher even though they have half the medals that the Americans have. For more information about the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad check out CBC.ca or for you Americans NBC.com.

Welcome to Athens

"Good evening from Athens, Greece and welcome to these the games of the XXVIII (28th) Olympiad" With these words CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corparation) host Brian Williams began CBC's near round the clock coverage of the Olympic Summer Games live from Athens, Greece. For those of you living in Canada, this is not news. For those of you in the United States, you're getting screwed once again by NBC. They claim it's better to have 5 networks, right, in Canada you never have to change the channel. CBC coverage begins tommorow morning at 4 a.m. PT, Canadians enjoy, for those of you in the United States ummmm....I'll try to keep up, but I may not get up at 4 a.m. to watch the games we'll see. Look for Olympic blogging over the next 16 days right here on the E Street Opinions page.

Been Slow

Ok, I know I'm bad, I haven't put anything up in a quite some time. Its mostly because I haven't come across anything good. And that's not to say that good only applies to things that prove Democrats wrong but I just happen to side a little more with the right than the left. During his Democratic National Convention acceptance speech, presidential candidate Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA) lied. And here is the proof from The Union Leader. It may be a small lie but it's a lie none the less.

Sergeant Brad Crawford

I know I said I was off this week and I am. However, there is one thing I need to talk about. Today I was a part of a memorial service remembering Clark County Sheriffs Deputy Sergeant Brad Crawford. Sergeant Crawford lost his life in the line of duty last friday as his patrol car was rammed by a suspect. I know one of his sons. My heart goes out to the Crawford family. For more information you can probably do a online search or check out the local paper The Columbian.
(The emotional radio call as spoken in the service)
(beeps heard)"One X-Ray 68 Seargent Brad Crawford... (silence) One X-Ray 68 Sergeant Brad Crawford... (silence) One X-Ray 68 Seargent Brad Crawford... gone forever but never forgotten..."

Thursday, July 29, 2004

Sorry,

I will have full anaylsis of tonight's John Kerry speech either first thing in the morning or later tonight. That's all that's going on pretty much. I'm off for the remainder of this week and all of next week. I may post I may not but have a good time and I'll talk to you soon.

Canada Beef

From Washington Associated Press: A recall in the meat industry. Quaker Maid Meats of Reading, Pennsylvania is recalling 170,000 pounds of hambuger patties that contain Canadian beef. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) says that meat should not have been imported from Canada, particularly after the rules imposed after the Mad Cow Disease cases in Canada. The USDA says the meat is safe because it's from cattle not old enough to have mad cow disease. Ummmm...WHY RECALL IT THEN!!!!!!!!!!! I mean come on if it's deemed safe for human consumption why bother recalling it. I would think the USDA has better things to do with it's time then manage how much Canadian beef is in Quaker Maid Meats products, but what do I know. Yes, I suppose it has something to do with the fact that I am Canadian and I love Canadian beef (particularly Alberta beef) but come on. The Mad cow thing is over, open the borders up to let the beef in. Hey, to you liberals out there this is one of the times that I actually disagree with the current administrations policy. That's my two cents.

Bad Me

Ok, I know I've been bad, I haven't published anything for a few days and I'm sorry but I have a couple of "low hanging" stories. First from CNN.com a man is being charged with murder after he was in an accident because he was watching a DVD on his DVD player. DVD players for vehicles are not supposed to be able to play unless the vehicle is in park or neutral.

Also from Channel 4 WTAEThe Pittsburgh Channel. A couple was maced, that's all I'm going to say. I really don't understand the reason behind this on at all. Email me with you're comments and the like please, I really want to know what you think. Or sign in on the left. Later

More on my previous

Want to read a little about what how the President reacted? Check out this link at CBSnews.com. It has a basic transcript of what happened that fatefull day in September 2001 from the press pool that was with the President.

Moore Wrong

Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 sets out to completely discredit and destroy President Bush. Unfortunately, Moore didn't think things out. I was reading a peice in this weeks Willamette Week magazine. Willamette Week (WW) is a publication in Portland, OR and you can see the letter I'm talking about by clicking here. This may be the only chance I have to respond to several bits of info that the article provides along with a whole week of info.

Michael Moore shows in Fahrenheit 9/11 two specific examples, according to the WW letter writer, that "revealed how ill-suited (President) George W. Bush is to be president." I plan on discrediting both of these claims.

First the writer in WW says

A seven-minute video capturing Commander-in-Chief Bush taking no action and instead continuing to read to school children after learning of the second plane crashing into the towers on Sept. 11. This is actual footage of a lost and confused George W. Bush, giving the public no indication of leadership.
President Bush made the right choice. Which would you rather have, a man who immediately got up and began barking orders and scaring the children he was reading to, or a man who collected his thoughts and actually spent some time thinking about how to react? Contrary to what people think, I think he did react, when his Cheif of Staff leaned in and said that we (America) were under attack, his face reacted but he didn't get up. President Bush instead waited 7 minutes to get up and start making some decsions, he didn't scare the children, he didn't make rash decsions, he composed his thoughts and then stood before the nation and looked somewhat composed and ready to fight.

The letter writer then goes on to say

(Moore Shows)Footage of Bush on his monthlong ranch vacation unable to provide reporters with any substantive answers to what work, other than clearing shrub, he is doing as president. As I and many others saw it, the scene itself showed Bush's utter lack of comprehension concerning serious policy matters. The media did give Bush a free ride on his competency as president--this is Moore's point.
I'm sorry, I saw the President while he was on "vacation" that man worked more than a whole lot of people I know when then go on vacation. He was all over the country, he had world leaders out at the ranch including Russian leader Putin and more. I'm sorry, so you spend some time out in the brush taking care of your ranch and you see world leaders, have a teleconference back to the White House every morning, come on, tell me honestly wouldn't you want to go on vacation where you could work and have a little fun too. Ok, I'm a techie geek and I would just do it to use the video conferencing.

I have said it before I will say it again, President Bush was, is and will be the right man in the right place at the right time. Please vote for President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney in 2004, but most of all please vote.

Fox News and Canada

Fox News channel is still not allowed in Canada. According to the Calgary Sun the CRTC still refuses to allow the US based Fox News Channel on Canadian Satelite systems. However, the CRTC has approved Al-Jazzera (spell) to be put on those same networks. For those of you who don't know Al-Jazzera (spell) is a very anti-American, anti-Isreal and anti-Christian network. It is definately not a fair and balanced network. Tell the Canadian Television-Radio and Telecommunications Commision to add Fox News to the non-Canadian Satelite lists.

Plans Change

Hello, sorry I haven't been posting, but this will likely be my last post till next monday. I am unfortunately not at easy access to a computer where I can do this regularly right now. I'm having a great time in D.C. and you know how to get a hold of me. Talk to you on monday.

Saddam's Lawyer

The Associated Press and Las Vegas Sun are reporting that Saddam Husseins lawyer is asking the United States Supreme Court to step in and say that holding the former Iraqi dicator is unconstitutional. First of all, Saddam is a terroist who murdered if not millions at least thousands of his own people. Second, he's not a citizen of the United States, he cannot be held to the same statues as an American citizen. I suppose if the Supreme Court looks at this it will say just how liberal they really are. The Supreme Court is on summer break and so they probably won't get to it till late September.

Stupid, really stupid

The Washington State Supreme Court has said that a woman is allowed to complain about her ex-husband, even if he find's it annoying. This particular story comes from Seattle Times. I'm sorry this guys ex-wife complains to the authorities about him but she has the right to do so. I can't even believe the Washington State Supreme Court even looked at this. That's insane...more on the way...about this maybe, but probably about other.

I could have sworn!

I was sure I posted yesterday, I guess not. I promise I will tonight. I am taking tommorow off and next week I'm in Washington D.C. where I will be working for the show from there. I really do promise I'll post tonight.

American Pilot Punished

There are several sources reporting this but I have chosen CBC.ca as the source. The American pilot that killed four and injured eight Canadian soldiers in 2002 has been found guilty of direlection of duty. He has been allowed to remain in the Illinois National Gaurd, he can't fly again, it will cost him nearly 6,000 dollars. Likely he will leave the military without changing rank. He is said to have been "arrogant", "with no remorse toward the injury and pain he caused the Canadian forces". My question is, is the punishment enough? Should he have to do time (in prison) for diobeying direct orders? Let me know what you think you know how!

Bad me

Ok, I'm a bad person...I know I forgot to add Friday, to be honest there wasn't much for me to add. I'll see if I can't find anything today.

Jesse Jackson is Racist

I am about to make a bold statement. I'm warning you, this will offend some people. Jesse Jackson is racist, and I have the proof. The Cybercast News Service reports that Jackson said, at a NASCAR sponsored event, that NASCAR should pursue more black/negro drivers because, "One thing I know, negroes can drive cars fast, I mean, we go through red lights, even [drive] at night with our lights off. We can drive cars fast." So, what do you think? He's saying blacks break the law (drive through red lights), are unsafe (drive without headlights at night) and probably there is a nod for driveby shootings(again no lights at night) and a nod at speeding. This guy is definately worse the Bill Cosby, of course no one will attack him, after Jesse Jackson is a Democrat, Bill Cosby is not. Hmmmm...go figure eh?
Bill Cosby is under fire again. According to SFGate.com Bill Cosby made comments like "Stop beating up your women because you can't find a job." and "They think they're hip, They can't read; they can't write. They're laughing and giggling, and they're going nowhere." regarding black children. I'm not racist, although I have been accused of being so. I think Bill Cosby is correct, even if he's using tons of steroytypes. Now I'm sure, you're going to come after me and attempt to tell me how he's wrong. Go ahead...I really don't care, I don't have an opinion other than the fact that I agree with him...more coming as usual.

CBS Fined

Finally, the FCC has made up it's mind on whether or not to sue CBS with regards to the Super Bowl 2004 halftime incident where Janet Jackson exposed or rather was exposed by Justin Timberlake to the billions of people watching. The Federal Communications Commission has ordered CBS to pay $550,000. CBS has also made significant changes to it's live content, particularly adding a delay of almost 5 minutes to shows like the Grammy awards. For more info on the story click here. Sorry about the subscription requirement, it is free.

Hey

I'm back finally after a very busy vacation. I'm here and now I will attempt to get back to posting. Hopefully, I'll get something I'm just getting back into the swing of things so...stick around more will be on the way.

Rush and KVI

Some days you do find something at the last minute. The Seattle Times is reporting that in a speech made by President Bush, Seattle radio station KVI censored the President. President Bush attacked Senator Kerry, no, how about the French, no, so why did KVI censor him. Simply becasue he mentioned Rush Limbough (spell). KVI used to carry Rush, now their competition does. Just read the story! It's funny.

Last day till next Tuesday

Ok, I'm sorry, I've been really busy in the studio over the past couple days so I haven't had much time to post, and unfortunately today is no different. And sadly, yes now is when you start crying, I'm taking a vaction. This is the part where I get to party! I'll be off from daily posting to my blog until June 29th. That doesn't mean that one of my other users won't and who knows I may come up with some time to post while I'm on vacation. Don't have to much fun without me and of course if something comes yet tonight I'll definately put it up. Have a great week plus two days. I'll talk to you soon. Have a great weekend, week, weekend and day.

Illegal Immigrants

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that 30% of new jobs in the rebounding American economy are being filled by illegal immigrants (illegal aliens). Now, more than ever I believe, Americans are having trouble finding jobs and they are already down to 70% of the market because illegal immigrants keep underbidding legal American citizens. This isn't write and it can only hurt. This is probably the one area where I do not agree with President Bush. Illegal aliens need to be sent home, either to Mexico or Cuba and we need to shut those borders down. I'm not discriminating, they are here illegally, get out. I'm a legal citizen and I don't want to have to deal with not being able to get a job because I keep getting underbid by someone who is illegal.
I know I'm running late tonight...I promise I'll get to it asap.

Cell Phones are vulnerable

FT.com (Financial Times.com) is reporting a worm virus is now attacking cell phones.
The malicious code, dubbed "cabir", is a worm that replicates on the Symbian operating system used in several brands of mobile phones, such as Nokia, Siemens and Panasonic.
Cell phone users are now more at risk. Oh, well. I just wish people would quit writing viruses there is really no purpose to them in the first place except to get noticed by people already in the community.

More on the way as always

Time Magazine

Time Magazine is reporting the undisclosed location of Vice President Dick Cheney. That is the location where Vice President Cheney was located immediately after the Attack On America on September 11, 2001. Ummm...isn't just me or is this stupid. This may cost the Americans a ton of money, because a new undisclosed location will have to be built. Bad Time Magazine, why on earth did you think this was even appropriate? You know where to reach me to comment. More on the way as always

I'm Back

Ok, I took an extended leave and took Friday through now. I'm back but having an internet problems today we'll see what happens later. It's a short week for me I'm here till Thursday and then I'm taking a vacation. I'll be back on the 29th, and may post while I'm away but probably not.

Theory of 3!

So who's next? President Reagan died over the weekend, Ray Charles died today. So who is the next one? There is a theory of three. Three famous people die in rapid sucsession, that's just the way it is. So who is next or who do you wish it will be? Let me know, you know how.

Reagan Honored

What should we do to honor President Ronald W. Reagan? There are many suggestions out there. Put him on half the dimes so he and FDR share them. Put his face on Mount Rushmore. Put him on the $10 or $20 bills. What do you think? How would you honor this great president? Post it on the left, or email me at sharpeonair@yahoo.com.

Chirac

This has not been confirmed but apparently French President Jacques Chirac insulted the Reagan Family and the majority of the American People, again I haven't confirmed this, but I will try to find out and post it but it doesn't surprise me if he did say it.

It's Reagan week

Tom Brokaw (NBC Nightly News) and Dan Rather (CBS Evening News) have both expressed that the coverage of President Ronald Reagan is overkill. Let's put this into perspective. In the past 6 months the New York Times has placed the Abu Graib prison scandal on the front page 57 times, the story is 6 months old. NBC when "Friends" went off the air they covered it for a month. But we can't talk about a president for a week. This isn't overkill, in fact it's probably not enough. Ronald Wilson Reagan ended a cold war, improved the United States economy and made enough jokes to make us all laugh for decades to come. Tonight on Capital Hill thousands are standing in line waiting to see this great man while he lies in State in the Capital Rotunda.

Reagan More

Yesterday I talked about President Reagan and the critics. More came out today and I would say the worst is from columnist/cartoonist Ted Rall had this to say in his blog.
How sad that Ronald Reagan didn't die in prison, where he belonged for starting an illegal, laughably unjustifiable war against Grenada under false pretenses (the "besieged" medical students later said they were nothing of the sort) and funneling arms to hostages during Iran-Contra. Oh, and 9/11? That was his. Osama bin Laden and his fellow Afghan "freedom fighters" got their funding, and nasty weapons, from Reagan. A real piece of work, Reagan ruined the federal budget, trashed education, alienated our friends and allies and made us a laughing stock around the world. Hmmmm...sounds familiar. Anyway, I'm sure he's turning crispy brown right about now.
In case you don't get the last part, he's saying that he hopes Reagan is burning in hell.

Here is my idea, pull his cartoons and columns from everything that runs them. I'm sure you can find out all the information on who carries on his website.

He's not the only one who said this kind of stuff. I'll post more as I find it of course...

Reagan and More

I know I said I was taking today off, however, plans change and I will be posting as normal today. Let's start off with my favorite thing to read every day. Opinion Journal Best of Web talks about President Ronald Wilson Reagan and what some of the other political leaders are saying. President Carter talked about President Reagan, I won't print it here today, you can read the piece in the Opinion Journal. There is so much more in Opinion Journal today, just read it. It will take to long to for me to quote everything the above link is directly to today's Reagan edition.

Sunday, June 06, 2004

I know I said I was taking the weekend off but I forgot about something very important. I know it's rather late but 60 years ago today thousands of men lost their lives for the freedom we now celebrate. Thank a veteran, of any war, but especially WWII if you know one. D-Day is today June 6th. It is the celebration of the Allied victories at the beaches of Normandy France defeating the Germans and creating the beginning of the end of WWII. In Rememberance of those who have gone on before. Also in a sad note, President Ronald Reagan has died. He didn't make it to the 60th anniversary of D-Day but as I told one of my friend earlier, he is safely home celebrating the day with those who went first. God Bless this country, God be with the Reagan family as they lose a Great American and the great communicator of the. The flags fly at half in honor of this great man. Godspeed to us all as we remember.

Bill Clinton Cannont run

CNN is reporting that former President Bill Clinton can run for Presidential candidate hopeful, Senator John Kerry's Vice president. CNN claims that the United States Constitution does not prohibt a two-term President from serving as a Vice President. Unfortunately, CNN didn't do their homework. The 12th Amendment of the United States Constitution follows, please pay specific attention to the final sentence:
The electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate;--The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;--the person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. And if the House of Representatives shall not choose a President whenever the right of choice shall devolve upon them, before the fourth day of March next following, then the Vice-President shall act as President, as in the case of the death or other constitutional disability of the President. The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.
I'll repeat that. No person constitutionally ineligable to the office of the President shall be eligible to that of the Vice-President of the United States.

What makes a person ineligable for serving as President? Article II section 1 paragraph 5 states the following:

Clause 5: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
If you don't satisfy any one of those requirments you are ineligable. Now in the 22nd Amdendmant of the Constitution it says:
Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
Therefore, if you have served two terms as President you cannot be re-elected to the position. Therefore, you cannot serve as VP either. My thanks to Lars Larson for getting me going on the research for this. Also to House of Representatives website and to James R Whitson and his website for giving me the majority of the information contained here. If you have any more questions go ahead and give me a post or email and I'll try to help out a little more. Have a wonderful weekend!

Today's Opinion Journal

If there remains any doubt that journalists' fascination with the Abu Ghraib story is primarily prurient in nature, consider how often it's showing up in entertainment stories:

From a New York Times article on Broadway shows: " 'Little Shop of Horrors,' for example, risks reminding people of the torture scandal at the Abu Ghraib prison." Not as much as the New York Times does, though.

From the Denver Post's review of the movie "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban": "The Dementors get their due--they are spectral Azkaban guards surrounding Hogwarts in search of Black. How little Rowling could have known a few years ago what Middle Eastern events would make her look prescient: Like certain other prison guards, the Dementors are more intent on capture and punishment than sorting right from wrong."

And from the Boston Globe review of the same film: "It's hard to watch the relentless Dementors curtailing liberties both at Hogwarts and in the surrounding country and not think about the current occupation of Iraq."

Perhaps in an attempt at political evenhandedness, the Associated Press includes this gratuitous reference in a dispatch about a Bill Clinton speech: "Clinton made no mention in his speech of Monica Lewinsky, the White House intern at the center of the sex scandal that dominated much of his second term."

My thanks to James Taranto and Opinion Journal for this info.

Judge Hamilton

On Tuesday, I reported on Judge Hamilton of the 9th circuit Court of Appeals who has decided that partial birth abortions are unconstitutional. In today's Washington Times the op-ed headline reads "Impeach Judge Hamilton." I encourage you to read it. Here is the opening quote, to wet your appetite.
It must stop. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton of California declared unconstitutional the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act passed overwhelmingly by Congress and signed scant months ago by the president, while being supported by 75 percent of the public.
That's just the start. And if you are among the 25% who agree with this practice, I am truly sorry you feel this way. This is a brutal act that must be stopped.

Smoking in movies

Fox News is reporting the anti-smoking groups are trying to get any movie with smoking in it rated R. Ok, so you can have naked people in a movie, in small doeses, and it's not R. You can use the F-word four times in a movie and it's not rated R. But if you smoke it's automatically rated R. Is there something wrong with this picture? If you're going to say smoking is a R-rating offense. Make all language, sexual content and violence and R-rating too. Hey, the Passion is now rated G, oh wait I forgot I put violence down as R-rating too. I guess that leaves Disney...wait Donald Duck smokes sometimes. There you go, all movies are now rated R! Ok, I admit it's a little bit of a slippery slop argument but I think I made my point. What do you think?

R-Card and Smoking

ABC News is reporting that GKC theaters which is in 24 cities is going to allow kids to attend R-rated films without parents as long as they have an R-card. What's an R-card? It's a card that the parents have signed that says the kids can see an R-rated film. It's 2 dollars but should kids be allowed to see R-rated films at all? Shouldn't parents have to do things to help their kids learn? After a kid watches a movie like The Passion of the Christ shouldn't the parents explain it all and help them understand. Can kids understand the content of many R-rated? Let me know.

Zell Miller

Here is a democrat that's getting it right. Zell Miller a Georgia state senator said this regarding the Abu Graib (yes, I'm aware of the spelling error) prison scandal

Mr. President, here we go again, here we go again. Rushing to give aid and comfort to the enemy. Pushing and pulling and shoving and leaping over one another to assign blame and point the finger at America the Terrible. Lining up in long lines at the microphones to offer apologies to those poor, pitiful Iraqi prisoners.
The link is to the full story.
Ok, I know normally I've put up at least 2 or 3 posts by now. I'm sorry, I'm just a little busy. I hope you are all having a good day and I do hope to get something up before the end of the night.

Bush and the Draft

Check out Bush Draft.com. They claim that President Bush wants to bring back the draft to be able to get enough people to fight in the War in Iraq/Terror. I'm sorry, but there is no way the United States will ever re-instate the draft unless there is a war the size of World War III. The United States doesn't want to force someone to fight. So a vote for President Bush in 2004 does not mean a draft in 2005. And if I'm wrong, well, I'm moving back to Canada...I can do that legally, I'm a dual citizen, I get to choose, for the rest of you...I hope you're ok with it. If not, I suppose you can dodge but...oh, I'm sure it won't happen...

Washington Times gets it right!

Finally the Washington Times gets something right. Normally the Times leans a little more to the left of center than I like, yet I still read it and I really like today's piece from Tony Blankley (yes, that's where the link leads to). Although I'm not sure why the left wants to have a President that always talks off the cuff. I don't mind when President Bush does a prepared speech. Yeah, a open conference is great but which woud you rather have? Let's make this a poll...respond by either posting or sending me an email...I'll get the results at the end of the week. More on the way as always...

Senator John Kerry

Some days I love politics. Slate online magazine has a wonderful piece on Senator Kerry everyday. They call it Kerryism and here is today's link to Kerryism. All instructions are self-contained. I'm sure now my liberal friends will come on and tell me how I'm attacking Kerry and I'm not brining up the the Bushisms. I'm sorry, when I find a link to that I'll post it as well even though I don't really want to. I do admit that it exists. President Bush vs. Senator Kerry, we decide in 5 months. The other question is who is Kerry's vice president? Just do me a favor and vote please.

To my Canadian friends, I just got my abstentee ballot for the Federal Election if I'm voting you better too. Vote in Canada on June 28, 2004. I implore you to vote for Stephen Harper and The New Conservatives in order to turn Canada around. That's my opinion...for now.

Portland Radio Changes

The changes just keep coming here in the Portland, Oregon radio market. On Friday Newstalk 860 KPAM let go of local afternoon talk show host Victor Boc and making the following changes. Replacing Victor from 3-6 is Larry Elder, replacing Elder (who was from 6-9) is weekend talk show host Victoria Taft. In other news 94.7 NRK has also blown up their format almost completely dropping almost all their dj's. They're website can be found at knrk.com. The KPAM website is kpam.com.

Judge Bans Partial Birth Abortion

Nineth circut court of appeals judge Phyllis Hamilton handed down a decsision today that could have a nationwide impact. Judge Hamilton sent down a decision that declares the Partial-Birth Abortion Act is unconstitutional. The link to the story is right here. Partial birth abortion is the act of killing a CHILD seconds before they begin to breathe. Believe me if you don't know any more than that you know to much. Planned Parenthood is the group responsible for challenging the Act originally. For more info you know where I am...more to come as always.

Monday, May 31, 2004

There will be no further posts besides this today.  I am taking the holiday off.  It’s Memorial Day in the United States and I along with millions of others wish to remember those who have fought and died and those who continue to fight for freedom and liberty.  At 3 p.m. today, please pause for one minute and remember those who have paved the way for us.  Thank a veteran or anyone you know in the service of this great nation.  God Bless America.

The Day After Tomorrow Reviews

Ok, sorry, I know I said this afternoon but I've been a little busy with my history homework (I'm taking a break). Ok, now for the review.

The Day After Tomorrow features, Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emmy Rossum and Sela Ward. If you haven't seen the trailers, ummm...Where have you been? It's simple, the world is going to end and only one man knows it. The problem is no one believe him. However, when the weather changes people start to believe him, except the Vice President.
This movie has some serious action in it. I actually really enjoyed it. There were some problems with it, particularly politically that and it's scientifically impossible. I'll openly admit it, I'm conservative, I don't believe that global warming is that big of a problem. That does not mean that I don't believe it exists. The Vice President in this movie doesn't believe it exists (who does this remind you of). (SPOILER WARNING) However, at the end he changes his mind and admits that it's different now and changes his mind. On a scale of 1-5 I'm giving this a 3.5. A little better than mediocre. If you want more, shoot me an email or leave a message.

The Day After Tomorrow

Just got back from viewing The Day After Tomorrow. I will have a full review by this afternoon. Have a good night!

FOXNews.com - Top Stories - Nurse Finds Vital Signs in Child Pronounced Dead

Nurse finds boy alive after he is pronounced dead according to Fox News.com. Starting now, I'm going to make the rest of tonights posts just a little lighter and more fun and positive. This boy is alive again.

Nick Berg amendment

Please note the last link I put up, not the one to Lars Larson but the other does contain language that some may find offensive and I do apologize for that. I would recommend that you only read the upper portion of the story and stop when you reach a series of links. Thanks

Nick Berg conspiracy

Ok, I do not believe in conspiracy theories so take this for what it's worth. Nicholas Berg was murdered by terrorists in Iraq. There is very graphic video on the web, I will admit I have not seen the video in it's entirety, however I will make it available to you. Click here and it's on the left side of your screen, warning it is graphic and a very large file. However, that isn't the real reason for this post.
I'll admit I thought about this right away. What if Nick Berg isn't in the video? What if it's a setup? Don't get me wrong, Nick Berg was found murdered, beheaded in fact. However, if you click this link it will give you the conspiracy theory view. Again, I do not believe this, and you should view it at you're own risk. You can always send me your views by emailing me or posting over on the left.

Single mom overwhelmed by recording industry suit

Tammy Lafky has a computer at home but said she doesn't use it. "I don't know how," the 41-year-old woman said, somewhat sheepishly. But her 15-year-old daughter, Cassandra, does. And what Cassandra may have done, like millions of other teenagers and adults around the world, landed Lafky in legal hot water this week that could cost her thousands of dollars.
A record company attorney from Los Angeles contacted Lafky about a week ago, telling Lafky she could owe up to $540,000, but the companies would settle for $4,000."I told her I don't have the money," Lafky said. "She told me to go talk to a lawyer and I told her I don't have no money to talk to a lawyer."
Lafky said she clears $21,000 a year from her job and gets no child support.
The music industry isn't moved. It has sued nearly 3,000 people nationwide since September and settled with 486 of them for an average of $3,000 apiece, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, which represents the major and minor labels that produce 90 percent of the recorded music in the United States.

This is cut up from the whole article, the link above is a link to the full story.
Now my opinion. Do I download right now? No. That's all I will say. I think the record company is this particular case needs back off. There is a quote from the article about how she didn't know it was illegal because her daughters friends were downloading constantly. Is ignorance of the law an excuse? Should the RIAA be persuing this case? Should they persue the illegal download at all? Let me know you know how.
More details about my last post. Sgt. Walters fought to the last bullet, was attacked by a bayonette and was then seperated from the rest of his company and then sat down in a chair tied up and shot twice in the back. This is still an ongoing investigation, if you find any errors in this post or any of my posts please leave me a message or drop me an email.

This document came down to me today.

Salem, Ore. - The family of Sgt. Donald Walters will hold a press conference to disclose additional information they have learned about their son's death after being formally briefed by a senior Pentagon official on Tuesday. Walters, initially reported as having been killed in action on March 23, 2003, was actually captured by Iraqi combatants, held separately from his fellow soldiers and killed while in custody.

Sgt. Walters has had his status changed from KIA (killed in action) to POW (prisoner of war). Sgt. Donald Walters, the first Oregonian killed in the War in Iraq is beginning to get the recognition he deserves. For more information shoot me an email or leave me a message with your email and I'll send you a copy of a document I've put together.

If you're wondering I live in Vancouver, Washington which is a little north of Portland, Oregon. Salem is the capital of Oregon and is just over an hour from where I live.

Ok, so I'm the last one to say this. But the winner of American Idol 2004 has finally been announced. I have to say that my candidate did not win but I have to give props. Fantasia Barrino is an amazing talent. Yes, the results are finally in and in a record vote of 65 million, Fantasia is the winner. Congrats to her and North Carolina, who I know y'all are extremely happy, especially after last years' defeat of Clay Aiken. For more information on American Idol click here. Runner-up Diana DeGarmo is just as amazing, I don't know where a 16-year old learned to sing like that but she is amazing.
Canadians, Canadian Idol starts Tuesday at 8 on CTV.
American Idol 4 (2005) starts up in January of 2005. Now that it's all over who did you want to win, let me know on the left.

You know I really hate it when I forget the most important things in life. Ok, I'm kidding but I do have to post this. The NHL playoffs are currently going on, more specifically the Stanely Cup Finals. The Tampa Bay Lightning and Calgary Flames are playing each other and last night the Flames triumphed 4-1. For more info check out The Sports Network or CBC Sports or ESPN. I think that's enough options. And as always you can email me or leave a message on the left.
Are you ready for The Day After Tommorow? This is supposed to be the movie that the White House doesn't want you to see. Ummm...this movie is eye candy. The White House can't stop anyone from seeing this. The Los Angeles Daily News via azcentral.com has a great piece on the movie. Now for my question, leave me a message or drop me an email. Are you going to go see the movie? I know I am.
Check this quote out.
Over the last year this newspaper has shone the bright light of hindsight on decisions that led the United States into Iraq. We have examined the failings of American and allied intelligence, especially on the issue of Iraq's weapons and possible Iraqi connections to international terrorists. We have studied the allegations of official gullibility and hype. It is past time we turned the same light on ourselves.

So who do you suppose this quote is from? The Democratic National Commitee? A liberal think tank? No, this article is from the New York Times. Please note that this link will probably fail within 24-48 of this post. Just stuff I'm working on.

Yesterday, I posted my support for President George W. Bush. In the way of fairness, with a little spin, I am going to try to post information about the critics of President Bush as well as those who agree. Today's story is courtesy of Drudge Report and Newsday.com. Hillary Clinton is the wife of Former President Bill Clinton and a senator from New York. For further information on this, please email me. And if you're wondering Senator McCain has said he will not be Senator Kerry's Vice President. Of course things in politics are always changing
The Associated Press is reporting that United States officials have recieved new intelligence that is credible that says the terrorists in the United States are planning an attack this summer. The information does not give a time or place but an AP inside source described the information as "a steady drumbeat of information that they are going to attack and hit us hard." AP Wire

Here's my question, do you believe anything will come of this? For more information on this story click here. Let me know your opinion by clicking the my email link in the upper left hand corner or send it to sharpeonair@yahoo.com
So for history class I'm trying to find critics of the Warren Commision Report. Unfortunately, that report came out in a time when there was this archaic technology known as a book so it has a very limited articles on the web. If any of you know where I can go please email me. I'll update as I research today so you know what is going on in the world.

Ok, so shoot me. I know I haven't been very good about keeping this site up but what can you do. I'm still here. There have been some changes however. I am no longer at 104.1 The Fish as an intern. Yep, that's right I left one station for another. I am now an "associate" or as it's more commonly known intern for the Lars Larson Show on News Radio 750 KXL and the Westwood One Radio Network. For more info click here or here. I work for the national show not the local show. You know how to get a hold of me if you get lost. Yes, I'm still at Mt. Hood Community College and no my shift time hasn't changed. More coming soon I promise. Who knows I may even start putting up links to stuff along with commentary. Maybe I'll start right now.
Re-Elect President George W. Bush
Why re-elect President Bush? To put it simply he's the right man in the right job at the right time.
Why re-elect President Bush? Because the tax cuts need to be made permanent and not rolled back.
Why re-elect President Bush? Because the world needs to be free of terroism and President Bush is the one who has so far been willing to stand up and fight.
Don't believe me, just read his site and then read Senator John Kerry's Official Website.
For you Canadians I haven't forgotten about you. I implore you to elect Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada. For more information click here.
I will continue to follow the developments in Canada as well as down here in the United States of America. For more info please feel free to drop me an email by clicking the my email link in the corner.
