The end of the Olympics

It's all over, the final medal counts are in and of course the United States won with 103 medals (35 of which were gold), that is just over 1/9th of the total medals handed out (903 medals are handed out in all). Russia placed second with 92, and China third with 63 (32 golds), Australia with 49, Germany rounds out the top 5 with 48. Canada placed 17th overall with 12 medals; 3 golds, 6 silvers and 3 bronze. That is Canada's worst showing since Seoul in 1988, where we only won 10 medals. Canada's best showing was in 1984 (boycott games by the Soviet block) with 44 medals. Canada's best showing in a non-boycotted games is Atlanta in 1996 where they won 22 medals.
