And now my analysis. The NHLPA needs to get over themselves. Back in 1994 they did almost the same thing. The owners caved in a little to much and we have the same problem we had 10 years ago. The NHLPA needs to get their heads out of the clouds, be happy with playing the worlds greatest game and take a little of a hit. I mean come on the average NHL salary is 1.8 million dollars. That's right I said average salary, and from what I have heard the NHLPA is objecting to the owners offering a salary cap to be set at 6 MILLION dollars. So if you're the best in the league you make 6 million if you aren't you make less. I also think that the NHL should introduce revenue sharing across the board. It works well in the NFL, where they have teams that play in places like New York City, New York and in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Maybe then the smaller market teams (and all Canadian teams) will have a chance to compete once again. This is one of the things that I definately have more to say on, and I will continue to watch the stories and developments on what's going on in the non-NHL year. Oh, and what are Canadians going to do on Saturday night now, no CBC? Guess CTV's and Globals numbers will gon through the roof. But I can't wait for Hockey to return.

It's a official
There will be, as of right now, NO NHL season this year. The commisioner of the NHL, Gary Bettman, issued a statement today that the players were locked out until the NHLPA and owners can agree. The basic problem is that the Owners want to have a salary cap and the NHLPA doesn't. For more on the story click here.

The NEA is still a partisaned organization
NEA.org is asking their members to host house parties for Sen. John Kerry. That's right NEA is supporting John Kerry (yeah I know huge surprise). The NEA is partnering with Moveon.org and other organizations to support the presidential candidate. Exactly what does Moveon.org have to do with education. Oh, that's right Moveon.org wants anybody but President Bush to be in office and they're willing to help anyone who wants to do it. Oh, JOY!!!!!!!
A round of applause to Canadian Liberals
According to Yahoo.com. If the world were to decide who the next president of the United States, Sen. John Kerry would win by a landslide. That landslide includes Canada where Kerry holds a 61% to 16% for Bush. So either the poll didn't bother to call west of Ontario or Canadians are happy with the current situation in Canada. Come on Canada, president Bush has been extremely nice to you. Just because you believe the lies of the Liberals doesn't mean you should vote for them. Remember there was a huge smear campaign against the Conservatives at the end of the last campaign, by the Liberals. VOTE CONSERVATIVE, life will get better. Look at Alberta for example, and follow their lead, they are the best part of Canada.

Bush takes a lead
It's a busy day today. President Bush takes an 11 point lead over Sen. Kerry in a Time Magazine poll released today. NOTE: This poll was conducted before the presidents acceptance speech last night.
New York: For the first time since the Presidential race became a two person contest last spring, there is a clear leader, the latest TIME poll shows. If the 2004 election for President were held today, 52% of likely voters surveyed would vote for President George W. Bush, 41% would vote for Democratic nominee John Kerry, and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader, according to a new TIME poll conducted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Poll results are available on TIME.com and will appear in the upcoming issue of TIME magazine, on newsstands Monday, Sept. 6.Go President Bush
Bill Clinton in the hospital
I'm going to be very up-front, I don't like Bill Clinton that much. I don't like the media fascination with Bill Clinton. I don't like the media obsession over every step every president, whether current or past, makes. Yes, I thought the media coverage of President Reagan's funeral services was a little over the top. However sometimes that much coverage is nessecary, I did watch all the ceremonies of Reagan as I talked about. Today Bill Clinton was admited for 4-way bypass surgery. I do wish him a speedy recovery, now that I have said that the only thing I want to hear from the media is that he has made it through ok and will make a speedy recovery, I don't want to see a special on the doctor that performed the surgery, I don't want to read how hard this was on the Clinton's, I just want to know that he's ok and then the media can shut up. That's just my opinion.

GOP convention
I'm sure I will get an advance copy of the Vice President's speech from the RNC convention tonight, I may have time to analyze it tonight. If I don't have time tonight, I will hope to get it done in the morning. I will also have analysis of the Presidents speech tommorrow. As a side note I am working on a lengthy story that will be put in a visible archive about Canada's safety issues regarding the Olympics in 2010. Myself and my good friend Scott are co-writing a piece on Canadian safety and where we see it going in the next 6 years as Vancouver gets ready for the olympics.

Russia: The new target of terrorism
In the past week Russia has suffered three terrorist attacks. Late last week, two planes blew up in the air. Authorities believe that it was two women who blew themselves up on-board the plane. One plane managed to hit the "highjacked" button before it blew up then today, of course it's already Wednesday in Russia, a suicide bomber blew up a subway in Moscow. According to ABC News the group claiming responsibility for today's attack, says they did it because of President Vladimir Putin non-negotiation with the rebels in pre-dominante muslim area in Chechnya.

The end of the Olympics
It's all over, the final medal counts are in and of course the United States won with 103 medals (35 of which were gold), that is just over 1/9th of the total medals handed out (903 medals are handed out in all). Russia placed second with 92, and China third with 63 (32 golds), Australia with 49, Germany rounds out the top 5 with 48. Canada placed 17th overall with 12 medals; 3 golds, 6 silvers and 3 bronze. That is Canada's worst showing since Seoul in 1988, where we only won 10 medals. Canada's best showing was in 1984 (boycott games by the Soviet block) with 44 medals. Canada's best showing in a non-boycotted games is Atlanta in 1996 where they won 22 medals.
